Abstract

This paper presents a simulation study and comparison the performance between various types of routing protocols. We use buffer size concept ad apply them on Destination Sequenced Distance Vector (DSDV) and Dynamic Source Routing (DSR) protocols, which are used for efficient routing under different scenarios in Mobile Ad-hoc Network (MANET). Our objective was to implement these routing protocols using Network Simulator (NS2) and run it for various numbers of nodes. Both routing protocols were compared in terms of average throughput while varying data rate, maximum packet in queue over buffer and number of packet drop while changing data rate by using Trace file format. We increase size of links in DSDV and DSR routing protocols and check performance under different routing load and check packet delivery ratio.
