THE NATURE AND FUNCTION OF AFFIXATION IN ARABIC AND ENGLISH
Main Article Content
Abstract
The affixation phenomena in Arabic and English is an effort to be explored in this study. This study incorporates all the main components
of speech, including nouns, verbs, adjectives, and adverbs. It uses comparative language research to highlight both similarities and
contrasts. When it comes to the affixation problem, this comparative research shows how varied languages are. In terms of affixation,
namely infixes and suffixes, contrastive analysis reveals substantial variances rather than commonalities. As an added bonus, Arabic
seems to be the only language that uses infixes in addition to a large number of suffixes. Learners and speakers may benefit from a better
understanding of idiomatic expressions if they are cognizant of all these variants.
